AN AMERICAN ICON: AIRSTREAM TRAVEL TRAILERS
Famous streamlined design and lightweight construction for faster, safer, easier towing.
Airstream will always make an extraordinary line of superb travel trailers with graceful, instantly recognizable, aircraft-inspired aluminum clad bodies. And even with a design inspiration that reaches back more than 70 years, Airstreams are still years ahead of all other makes in style, strength, lightness, durability, quality and comfort. From casual travel with overnight stops to full-time living on the go, Airstream cannot be equaled.
There’s no doubt about it, the next best thing to an Airstream travel trailer is another Airstream.
Every Airstream is built to the same exacting construction standards and must satisfy the travel specifications of the world’s most adventurous roamers: Airstreamers. Chassis, running gear, body design and luxurious amenities are standard throughout all Airstreams, regardless of model or series. All Airstreams are completely self-contained and fully equipped with the conveniences you need for extended stays away from standard electrical, water and sewer connections. The differences among the Classic, International and Safari models are a reflection of the lifestyle requirements of our customers.
International - the spectacular Airstream series that redefines “travel trailer”
Classic - the timeless design that has made Airstream a legend the world over
Safari - all the durability, versatility and adventure its name implies, with a crisp, modern interior design
Whatever your lifestyle, whatever your travel plans, there’s an Airstream trailer just right for you.
Quality Airstream Features
It’s often the simple but clever ideas that make a product truly outstanding. Case in point, the ingenious space-saving features built into every Airstream, such as the rear bumper storage and compartments designed to house hoses and other wet or soiled items. Inside, the drop-down writing table offered in several models provides custom storage for Zip-Dee chairs. In the bedroom you’ll find generous under-bed storage drawers or bins. Queen beds lift for convenient access, and drawers or bins under the twin beds are removable for easier packing.
Hand-Crafted Monocoque Construction
Airstream's unique monocoque body shell has made it the most recognized trailer on the road for more than 70 years. Every Airstream is built from the ground up according to the artisanship of veteran Airstream craftsmen. Airstream's average workforce tenure of almost 20 years is unequalled in the RV industry and testament to the passion and skill its people have for meticulous construction. The same as it's ever been. And always will be.
Craftsmanship You Can See
The aluminum panels and rib structure are carefully riveted together by hand using hundreds to thousands of rivets. The result is a lightweight, yet strong body that’s self-supporting and needs no separate frame. Spacers are then installed to provide for the insulation and the attachment of the interior walls and ceiling. Structural integrity is paramount to every Airstream trailer.
A high-grade aluminum skin seals the chassis underbelly from beneath. Fiberglass insulation 2½ inches thick not only controls interior temperatures, but also helps prevent holding tanks from freezing. Ducted heat or heating pads give the tanks added protection. Finally, rugged 5/8-inch tongue-in-groove plywood or sturdy Weyerhaeuser OSB Structurwood flooring seals the chassis from above.
Shelter from the Storm
Airstream's construction process is unique among RV manufacturers, not just for the world-class materials it uses, but also for the very design of its process. The monocoque shell and chassis are assembled first. Then, before the interior skin and furniture are installed, Airstream tests each coach in its Category 2 Hurricane Force water check facilities. This method makes it easy for Airstream's on-the-line quality team to detect and remedy any leaks. Other RV manufacturers typically water check their products after the wall coverings, furniture and appliances have been installed. This makes it very difficult to detect leaks, especially those hidden behind bulky interior appointments.
Airstream's proprietary construction process also ensures easy serviceability for all coach components. Everything, from the furniture to the appliances, is brought in through the door of the coach for installation. This means that any item needing service can easily be accessed and even removed if necessary - through the door. Yes, this process is more labor intensive. Yes, this process costs more. But Airstream customers demand and deserve the best; our unique process ensures they get it.
